Session Description

This session introduces Participatory Futures with an emphasis on games and simulations. Featuring cases and examples from around the world, including projects organized by the United Nations, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the European Commission, the governments of UAE and Singapore. This presentation sets up the hybrid gaming session that follows. As the “Our Futures” game is online, there is an opportunity to stage a seamlessly blended experience where in-person participants and those online can interact and engage in futures-driven play. In the second part of the session, card decks, board games and facilitated games will be played in smaller in-person groups. This is an excellent opportunity to come and taste some of the many gaming variations available for participatory futures work.
