The Singularity is Near! Is It?

According to some leading technologists like Ray Kurzweil, founder of Singularity University, a coming technological singularity is near, but is it really near? Is it even possible? If so, when? And what would be the consequences? How about economics, political, social, and environmental issues? Ray Kurzweil explains that this event, changing humanity forever, will happen by 2045, as he wrote in his 2005 bestseller, The Singularity is Near. In his coming book in 2022, The Singularity is NearER, he defends that this technological singularity will indeed happen by 2045, thanks to the converging technologies known as NBIC.
