Dr. Olaf Theiler
Dr. Olaf Theiler, born 21. December 1963 in Stuttgart, Germany, is a historien and political scientist. He has studied both at the Humboldt-University and at the Free University of Berlin, 1987-1994. In 2002 he finished his PhD on NATO´s Reform Process after the End of the Cold War. From 1998 to 2007 he was teaching security policy at the Academy of the German Armed Forces for Information and Communication. He then moved to Brussels, where he worked as national expert in NATO´s International Staff, Operations Division, June 2007 – September 2012. In October 2012 he returned to the Ministry of Defense in Berlin, serving in the Strategy and Operations Division, NATO and EU Military Policy Desk. Since March 2014 he is Branch Head Future Analysis in the Bundeswehr Office for Defense Planning, providing the German Armed Forces capability planning with the long term view (15 years plus) on multidisciplinary issues.
