Event Description

We, the Kapitel21 Zukunftsforschung–the alumni network of Berlins futures studies program, organize a facilitated discussion space. Its aim is to provide a room for exchange and reflection between early career and experienced people. We invite conference participants and our alumni to talk about approaches, methods, topics most relevant for them. Ultimately, we are looking forward to collaboratively examine the roots, contingent pathways and shifts that theory and practice of futures research have taken: What is new about the next generation of futures researchers and what is not? What are the main challenges of the futures they perceive? What is their understanding of being a futures researcher? How do they work (methods, structures) and how can they be better supported?

We want to welcome everyone to chat with us about their generation or school of thought in the field of futures research so we can learn from each other. Our discussion space is inspired by approaches such as the fish-bowl method. It enables discursive processes in larger groups and still allows differentiation of viewpoints. The space consists of two circles. In the outer circle one observes the discussion, in the inner people actively take part in the discussion. If they choose to at a given time observers can move into the inner circle and participate in the discussion. Looking forward talking to you!
