Sirkka Heinonen

Sirkka Heinonen is Professor Emerita of Futures Research at Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRC), University of Turku. With over 30 years as a futures researcher at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, long experience in futures research, studying the perceptions of time, technology and nature, impacts and risks of technology. Full Member of the Club of Rome, and Chair of the Helsinki Node of the Millennium Project. Projects on technology foresight, energy, cities and rural areas, sustainable knowledge society, work, construction, housing, transport, lifestyles. Currently, conducting a foresight study on Real Estate in Sustainable Crises Management in Urban Environments (RESCUE). Member of editorial board in six journals: FUTURA, Futures, European Journal of Futures Research, World Futures Review, Journal of Futures Studies, Futures & Foresight Science. Vice-President of the Finnish Society for Futures Studies (FSFS). Prof Heinonen is interested in developing futures studies methodologies and has launched and tested Futures Cliniques, Creative Foresight Space and Pioneer Analysis.
